Who are we looking for?

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a site-based Security Manager to be responsible for the overall security operations at LSE, safeguarding students, staff, visitors, and all campus buildings. This includes the strategic and operational management of physical and technical security measures, the on-site guarding contract, and the provision of effective emergency response plans across the entire estate—including academic buildings and halls of residence.

You will be working an average of 50 hours per week Monday to Friday with flexible working being mandatory.

What you will need:

  • Excellent communication skills and a strong customer focus.
  • A valid SIA Front-Line License - essential
  • Previous Security Management experience with complex, multi-use estate.
  • Familiarity with environments such as Education, Public Realm, Residential & Commercial
  • Competence with security technologies and systems including; CCTV, Access Control, Alarms and Scheduling/Reporting platforms
  • Able to achieve vetting to BS7858 Standards

What are you going to do:

  • Lead and oversee all security operations, ensuring effective deployhment of personnel and resources to meet LSE's evolving needs
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and contractual obligations are adhered to and regularly reviewed
  • Develop and maintain a live Security Risk Register
  • Conduct ongoing threat assessments and implement mitigation strategies in coordination with Counter Terrorism Security Advisers 
  • Lead compliance with the upcoming Protect Duty legislation
  • Update LSE leadership quarterly on key risks, incident trends, and developments
  • Monitor performance against KPIs and Assignment Instructions. Introduce metrics for continuous improvement and report monthly to Corps and LSE
  • Coordinate emergency evacuation plans across the estate, ensuring adequate numbers of trained fire marshals and first aiders
  • Lead fire and emergency response drills and training sessions as needed
  • Direct and support DSMs in performance management, training and welfare reviews
  • Manage reporting of hours worked beyond contracted coverage to ensure accurate billing
